Businessman fabricated court evidence during fraud trial and is now on the run - how did this happen
A fraudulent businessman who was spared jail because of his glowing character references has fled justice after it emerged he faked the reviews.
Shaun Keen was given a suspended sentence for insurance fraud in 2015 but it emerged in March 2016 that some of the wonderful character references which so impressed the judge were faked.
Keen had moved to Canada by then but came back in late 2016 and was arrested immediately by police.
The 49-year-old was then charged with perverting the course of justice and tried at Cambridge Crown Court last week.
On the last day of his trial the fraudster failed to attend and was found guilty in his absence.
Now the court are hunting to find him.
